7 New European Hotels Already on My 2027 Radar
From Lake Como and Costa Smeralda to Crete and the Algarve, these are the European hotel openings I’m watching—and who I think they’ll be best for.
There are few things I love more than a great hotel opening.
And 2027 is already shaping up to be an especially interesting year for luxury hotels in Europe. Some of the biggest names in hospitality are arriving in destinations I already love, while others are giving us entirely new reasons to consider places that may not have been at the top of your list before.
These aren’t simply the newest hotels I’ve seen announced. They’re the openings I actually want La Vie Marie travelers to know about—and the ones I’ll be watching closely as reservations begin to open.
Opening timelines can always change, but for now, these are the seven on my radar.
01 — Raffles Lake Como
Moltrasio, Italy | Expected 2027
Lake Como certainly isn’t lacking beautiful hotels—but the arrival of Raffles is still a big deal.
The brand is making its Italian debut with a full-scale renovation and conversion of the former Grand Hotel Imperiale in Moltrasio, on the western shore of the lake. Plans currently call for 84 accommodations in total, including 18 suites and two villas, along with indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, beach club and private lake access.
Why it’s on my radar
Lake Como has some of the most iconic luxury hotels in Europe, which means a newcomer has a very high bar to clear. I’m especially curious to see how Raffles’ style of service translates to the lake—and whether it earns a place alongside the properties I already love recommending.

Watch this one for: honeymoons, anniversaries and travelers who want the hotel itself to be a major part of the Lake Como experience.
This is one I’ll be watching very closely.
02 — Rocco Forte Costa Smeralda
Sardinia, Italy | Expected 2027
Sardinia was already high on my list for 2027, and this makes it even more interesting.
Rocco Forte’s first Sardinian property is planned for a seafront site at Liscia di Vacca, just north of Porto Cervo. The intimate resort is expected to have 64 rooms and suites, a spa, three restaurants and a rooftop bar overlooking the coast.
Why it’s on my radar
Costa Smeralda has the water, beaches and glamorous Italian-summer energy people dream about—but the hotel decision matters tremendously here.
Add a new Rocco Forte resort to the mix, and I expect this part of the island to be particularly interesting for luxury travelers.

Watch this one for: an Italian beach honeymoon, anniversary trip or anyone whose ideal vacation is equal parts beautiful hotel, turquoise water and long lunches.
03 — Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina
Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy | Opening early 2027
One of Italy’s historic Alpine hotels is getting an entirely new chapter.
The historic Cristallo is being transformed into Mandarin Oriental’s first Alpine resort, just minutes from the center of Cortina d’Ampezzo. The hotel is currently expected to begin taking bookings in early 2027.
Why it’s on my radar
The Dolomites aren’t just a ski destination.
Summer here can be extraordinary—hiking, long lunches, mountain views, wellness and that very specific combination of Alpine scenery and Italian hospitality.
Mandarin Oriental entering Cortina gives travelers looking for that experience a major new luxury option.

Watch this one for: couples who want the Dolomites with serious spa and hotel credentials, whether that’s après-ski in winter or mountain days in summer.
04 — Rosewood Rome
Rome, Italy | Expected 2027
Rome’s luxury hotel scene continues to evolve, and this may be one of its most interesting additions yet.
Rosewood Rome is taking over three historic buildings on Via Veneto, including the former headquarters of Banca Nazionale del Lavoro. Current plans call for 155 accommodations, including 50 suites, three dining concepts and a rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
But the detail that immediately caught my attention?
The former bank vault is being transformed into a modern Roman bathhouse, while an Asaya Spa will sit on the rooftop.
Why it’s on my radar
Rome already has some incredible grande-dame hotels. I don’t think “new” automatically means “better.”
But Rosewood’s combination of location, design and wellness makes this one worth watching.

Watch this one for: travelers who want classic Rome without necessarily choosing one of the city’s traditional luxury institutions.
05 — Six Senses Milan
Brera, Milan | Expected 2027
This might be one of the city openings I’m most curious about.
Six Senses Milan is coming to Via Brera 19 in the heart of Milan’s arts district, with just 68 guest rooms—including 15 suites—and a rooftop bar and sky pool.
The location puts guests within walking distance of Brera’s galleries and cafés while still being close to Milan’s fashion and shopping districts.
Why it’s on my radar
Milan is often treated as somewhere you fly into, spend a night and leave.
I think hotels like this could make it much more tempting to actually stay.
And I love the idea of pairing Six Senses’ wellness focus with a few days of fashion, design, restaurants and aperitivo in Brera.

Watch this one for: a stylish two- or three-night Milan stay before Lake Como, the Dolomites or another Italian itinerary.
06 — Rosewood Blue Palace
Crete, Greece | Expected 2027
This isn’t technically an entirely new hotel—and that’s part of what makes it interesting.
Crete’s beloved Blue Palace is being comprehensively reimagined before reopening as Rosewood Blue Palace, marking Rosewood’s entry into Greece.
The resort is set between Plaka and Elounda on a hillside overlooking a private beach, with planned views toward Spinalonga across the Gulf of Elounda. Plans currently include 154 rooms and suites—85 with private pools—six restaurants and bars, three outdoor pools and Rosewood’s Asaya wellness concept.
Why it’s on my radar
Crete gives you something many Greek islands can’t: enough depth to build an entire trip around.
Beautiful beaches, incredible food, history, villages and a genuinely diverse landscape mean you don’t necessarily need to island-hop.

Watch this one for: Greek-island honeymoons and couples who want a beautiful resort without sacrificing the ability to actually explore.
This may be one of the openings I’m personally most excited about.
07 — Conrad Meia Praia Algarve
Lagos, Portugal | Opening spring 2027
Portugal’s coastline deserves more attention from luxury travelers—and this is another reason to give it some.
Conrad Meia Praia Algarve is scheduled to open above Meia Praia Beach, a short drive from Lagos, with 116 rooms and suites, all with sea views—including seven with private plunge pools. Plans also include indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, two restaurants and a contemporary beach club.
Why it’s on my radar
Portugal doesn’t have to mean another Lisbon + Porto itinerary.
The Algarve gives you dramatic coastline, beaches and a completely different pace—making it particularly interesting for travelers who want to finish a Portugal trip somewhere slower.

Watch this one for: couples who want Portugal with a true resort component or anyone looking for an alternative to the more obvious Mediterranean beach destinations.
